SpaDiva Review Rating: Pure Island Bliss Awaits!

1. Aesthetics/Location 

Escape to the island of your dreams at "The Spa at Paradise Point" perfectly situated within the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego, California. Fiji, Bali, Thailand, and Hawaii beckon you, as you explore a tropical paradise of your choosing at this spa nestled within a resort oasis. Exotic rituals, signature treatments, and island-themed spa services are perfectly packaged to transport you into sensory paradise.  

2. Ambience

Once you are beyond the main spa entrance (under construction during my visit-but all for an improved spa experience) you will be "taken in" as you enter an island paradise through a lush garden walkway surrounded by palm trees, bamboo, and tiki-styled bungalows. As you enter the waiting room and locker area, rich beige and brown tones, slate stone tile, and mahogany accent colors soothe your senses and invite you to "release" and prepare for a uniquely different spa adventure. This is not your typical large resort spa. Instead it evokes a more private, intimate and specialized experience. Indeed, at times I felt like I almost had the spa to myself. A SpaDiva loves that!

3. Customer Service

I was pleasantly greeted and received by Brenda, the Front Desk Receptionist/Spa Attendant. Brenda provided a warm and friendly first impression combined with a positive service attitude that makes a difference (Spa Divas know how important that is! We want to know that we are cared for from the moment we arrive to the moment we say "adieu.") As Brenda gave me a guided tour and explained the changes occurring at the spa, she also pointed out all the essentials and stood ready to respond to my SpaDiva questions and needs. As I inquired about the gym (remember a gym experience always enhances a spa experience!), Brenda made certain I could find my way through what seemed like a circuitous route. Brenda didn’t just tell me how to get to the gym, when I was ready Brenda kindly escorted me there and wished me a great workout. SpaDivas love service that goes above and beyond.

4. Qualified and skilled staff/Treatments

The SpaDiva selected the "Island Bliss Ritual" and quite frankly, this was one of the best spa treatments the SpaDiva has experienced! The "Island Bliss Ritual" is a deeply enriching combination of treatments including  a luxurious exfoliation, body wrap, scalp massage, and 50-minute full body massage. Make no mistake. This was not your typical spa package. It was EXTRAORDINARY. My heart aligned, my spirit aligned, and my body aligned to receive and experience a most magical spa treatment.

My masseuse named "Kaylee" is the masseuse that I wish upon every SpaDiva! She is the masseuse that every SpaDiva should be blessed with. All I can say is Kaylee is definitely using her gifts!

Kaylee greeted me with a very calming and grace-filled tone, then ushered me into an island-inpired candlelit room that immediately settled my mind, body, and soul. I was transported. As Kaylee beautifully explained what I was about to encounter, I became confident I was about to experience something special and unique. At that moment, I settled in to surrender to "Island Bliss."

The first stage of the "Island Bliss Ritual": The Fijian cane sugar and oil scrub exfoliation was a most refreshing change and unlike any other scrub I have experienced. This oil-infused scrub was surprisingly soft, soothing and transcending.  As the beginning stage of the ritual, this scrub perfectly welcomed and prepared my body for all that was about to come. I was then treated to an in-room shower that left my skin feeling silky smooth, and I felt ready to enter the next stage of tranquility.

The second stage of  the "Island Bliss Ritual" was a soothing layering of warm coconut oil that overwhelmed my mind and body with a deep sense of relaxation. I was so transformed and my relaxation deepened when Kaylee placed perfectly warmed beach stones in my palms, wrapped them underneath my feet, and placed them along the center length of my body. My relaxation further deepened when Kaylee provided one of my favorite treatments: a scalp massage drenched with warm coconut oil - It was beyond heavenly and a scalp massage to be remembered. For the SpaDiva, the scalp massage also provides the perfect time to consciously breathe in and reflect upon all the goodness of life. A time to settle your mind and soul. This scalp massage truly set the tone for the final stage of "Island Bliss."  

At this final stage of the ritual, I could not imagine that the experience could improve, but it certainly did! The final 50-minute massage was the perfect ending to a perfect experience. It was so divine I could barely move or turn over. (In fact my slow moving turn over became a running joke between Kaylee and I.) Kaylee applied the perfect balance of pressure and massage techniques while I drifted away into PURE ISLAND BLISS!

The Spa Menu is a SpaDiva's paradise and offers a plethora of unique and traditional spa services. Select from a diverse blend of signature treatments designed to transport you to the islands of Bali, Fiji, Hawaii, and Thailand, or design your own unique experience. There's so much to choose from you will be inspired and anxious to schedule an appointment.

6. Diva Essentials  

A bountiful bowl of fruit is offered in the spa waiting room, and the selection of hot herbal teas was divine. In the waiting room, the SpaDiva enjoyed a hot cup of cherry blossom tea: a perfect finale for a blissful spa experience.

7. Diva Necessities                                

Nicely designed women's locker room - Check. All the right pampering necessities - Check. Ample towels, comfortable robes and slippers - Check. Co-Ed Waiting Room?? - Wait a minute!! However, when I was in the waiting room, I almost had the whole place to myself! I had the perfect pre- and post-treatment time in the waiting room. I was able to enjoy the silence, reflect upon my life, read a little, and dream. Other noticeable necessities - the women's steam room was just right! Although a small room, it was the perfect temperature, timing, and amount of steam. Shower caps were not readily available in women's locker area. Perhaps its by request. Good thing I brought my own. Overall, the women's locker/shower area seemed small at first (only two showers), but all was perfect during my experience!

8. Bonus Items                               

Bonus Item #1: K-a-y-l-e-e! Kaylee! If all the other massage therapists are as "gifted" as Kaylee, every client and SpaDiva will return to re-experience bliss!

Bonus Item #2: If you are a local San Diegan, you are in for a treat: A 10% discount!! Make sure you mention at the time of booking.

Bonus Item #3: It's even better if its your birthday! The SpaDiva enjoyed a 25% discount in celebration of her birthday.(Are you ready to book now?!) It's definitely the gift that keeps on giving!

9. Cleanliness
The SpaDiva's cleanliness rating for the Spa at Paradise Point is: 10 out of 10! Clean, organized, and nothing out of place. This is critical to a SpaDiva's experience. Way to go! 

10. Final Reflection/Final Comments

You must experience the Island Bliss Ritual at The Spa at Paradise Point – An unforgettable spa experience that will align your body, enlighten your mind, and rejuvenate your soul! It’s no wonder this spa was voted as one of the Top 100 Spas in America in 2011. It’s definitely worthy of a SpaDiva, and provides the experience a SpaDiva needs.
